May Festivals
KL International Water Festival
	Dates : Apr 04 - May 31, 2008 Place : Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Description: Water looms large in the life of Kuala Lumpur and the city capitalises on its suitability for water-based activities with an annual Water Festival. There are hundreds of components to the month-long water carnival, like a sandcastle building contest, an underwater treasure hunt, the 'catch the duck' competition, log-walk fights and many kayak, canoe and jet-ski races. A programme of cultural music and dance performances, most offered free of charge, tops off the extravaganza.
Wesak Day
	Dates : May 19, 2008 Place : Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Description: Visakha Bucha Day is observed on the day of the full moon during the 6th lunar month, which usually falls in either May or early June. It is a day to commemorate three important incidents: the birth, the enlightenment and the passing away of the Buddha. Miraculously, these events fell in the same month and on the same date in the Buddhist era.
Colours of Malaysia 2008
	Dates : May 24, 2008 Place : Putrajaya, Malaysia Description: On 24th May 2008 at the Putrajaya's Palace of Justice, Malaysia celebrates its 10th anniversary of Colours of Malaysia or Citrawarna with an explosive night of fun, flair and flavours. Creative lightshows and dazzling displays of fireworks dapple the vast canvas of the evening sky as a host of dancers parade the length of Persiaran Perdana at Putrajaya promoting their ethnicity, culture and traditions proudly. Thousands of performers from far swung corners of Malaysia will be displaying the uniqueness of their cultures, traditions and arts in the form of dance and music. The nation's people celebrate with vigour and unity.

	Dates : May 24 - Aug 03, 2008 Place : Throughout Malaysia Description: Sales! Sales! And more Sales! Throughout Malaysia, all shopping malls, stores, boutiques will participate in the creation of a fantastic shopping extravaganza. Huge discounts everywhere offer bargains galore for both local and overseas shoppers. There will be specials such as Made in Malaysia Exhibition and Malaysian Fashion Week, where local designers display their latest creations.
Cirque Dreams Asia
	Dates : May 26 - June 01, 2008 Place : Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Description: Performances combining acrobatics, body bending and circus acts from international circus acts presenting a fantasy theme. The group have carried out performances in North America, South America and Europe.
Global Indian Shopping Festival 2008
	Dates : May 30 - June 08, 2008 Place : Mid Valley Mega Mall, Kuala Lumpur Description: Exhibiting Indian based products such as traditional attire, accessories, body art, house hold décor, brassware as well as food and medicine, the event is regarded the largest Indian Shopping Festival in the Asia Pacific region. The Global Indian Shopping Festival has attracted about 471,533 locals and more than 11,000 visitors last year; from countries like Europe, United States, Middle East, South Asia, ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand.

King's Birthday Celebrations
	Dates :June 07, 2008 Place : Various Kuala Lumpur Description: Malaysians celebrate His Majesty the King of Malaysia's birthday on 4 June with a series of events and ceremonies in the capital, Kuala Lumpur. Events include a ceremonial Trooping of the Colours and a rousing performance by a military band. This ceremony symbolises the Malaysian Armed Forces’ pledge of loyalty to the His Majesty the King of Malaysia.
Disney's 'Beauty and the Beast' The Broadway Musical
	Dates : June 24 - July 03, 2008 Place : Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre Description: Nominated for nine Tony awards including Best Musical, this eye-popping musical has been wowing audiences world-wide with record breaking runs in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Sydney, Tokyo and London's West End.

KL Festivals

Here are a sampling of events organized throughout Malaysia. Some are traditional events that have a long history and some are newer events organized by the government to stimulate tourism. As such, bear in mind, some are hits and some are misses.... Of course many events are geared towards the local population and as such the language used will be Bahasa Melayu but don't let that hold you back - GO! (especially to any dance or puppet show) you'll be surprised how warmly you are welcomed

World Amateur Inter-Team Golf Championship (WAITGC) WAITGC was organized with the objective of promoting holiday destinations that offer golfing facilities to both the international and local markets. The championship is open to teams of amateur golfers.

Colors of Malaysia
Presenting Malaysia's rich culture and tradition through a showcase of cultural activities, handicrafts exhibition, sumptuous cuisine and resplendent costumes. The Colors of Malaysia is also displayed throughout the country for a whole month with a variety of cultural activity. It will be an unforgettable cultural experience.

Food & Fruit Fiesta
Malaysia is famous for its tempting array of culinary delights, derived from its potpourri of cultures and races. This fiesta is held to introduce to visitors the various fruits and cuisine of colorful Malaysia. Most of these delights are available anywhere at anytime. The lively culture of 'makan-makan' or enjoying a hearty meal is a fun-filled activity for Malaysians. Tourists are invited to tuck-into the glorious platter and share the camaraderie!

Merdeka Day Parade
Malaysia's 50th year of independence (Merdeka). This historic event is celebrated in joyous mood by Malaysians from all walks of life over a one-month period. Malaysians display their love for the country by proudly flying Jalur Gemilang or the national flag. A host of activities is held in each state including parades, exhibitions of Malaysia's history and fireworks displays, culminating in a grand parade attended by their Majesties, the King and Queen, the Prime Minister, dignitaries and the public.
